Mermaid Hales makes her home at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay! She spends her days watching seahorses swim through the seagrass, helping hermit crabs find new homes, and picking up trash in the Bay. Mermaid Hales considers herself something of an underwater scientist because she is curious and loves to learn about every creature she encounters. From slipper snails to humpback whales, Mermaid Hales can tell a tale about any animal she’s met. Hales believes that the more we learn about the ocean, the better we will be at protecting it.
Reminder: You don’t have to live near the ocean in order to be an ocean protector!
